the hope manifesto
The world feels heavy right now. Fear, anger, hopelessness—these aren't rare feelings anymore. They're daily companions for too many of us.
But here's what I know: there's a heck of a lot of collective wisdom amongst us. Hard-won insights from life's scars. Truths that have carried people through their darkest moments.
So, it got me thinking: what if we gathered them all in one place?
why a manifesto?
A manifesto is a public declaration of intentions and beliefs. Throughout history, manifestos have sparked movements, united communities, and given people language for what they feel but couldn't articulate. They're potent because they turn individual truths into collective power. They are reminders that we're not alone in what we believe.
And because of the potency a manifesto can bring, I felt it is the best medium to share these collective lessons.
what we're creating
This is an attempt to build the world's first crowd-sourced collection of wisdom on hope.
Not the Instagram-quote, toxic-positivity kind of hope. The real stuff. The honest reflections on what actually helps us move forward when the path seems murky.
Think of it as a compass for hard times.
what I'm asking for
Share a message that's helped you navigate difficult times. It could be:
- "The morning after my worst day, I made someone else a cup of tea. That's where I started rebuilding"
- "Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage"
- "This too shall pass"
These could be from your own life. Your grandmother's wisdom over tea. Or truths you've read somewhere and thought, "heck, I'm borrowing that."
Every message will find a home here on this website. Who knows, maybe further down the line there'll be posters, books, or other ways to share this collective wisdom. All proceeds to a not-for-profit.
But right now, it's simply about gathering the light.
